New Waste Streams at RBC Centre

Contamination in Toronto alone has increased from 22% in 2015 to 30% in 2019, meaning approximately a third of what we put in recycle bins is actually ending up in landfill. We can all do our part to help change this.

To support new legislation to offset cross contamination we are introducing the following new waste streams at Simcoe Place.

  • Paper must be separated from bottles, cans & plastic and put into separate bins
  • Recycling that is contaminate with organics (food or liquid) will no longer be accepted and will be diverted to waste
  • All organics with any trace of garbage products will be diverted to waste

See our New Waste Guide to learn more about how to recycle correctly and avoid cross contamination

Government of Ontario Issues New Guidelines for Food Operators

Based on guidelines issued by the Government of Ontario, all dining at RBC Centre has been modified to take out and delivery services only. This includes restaurants, food retailers and Food Hall vendors. These new restrictions will be in place for 28 days, from October 10 to November 7, 2020.

Please note: Restaurants with patios can continue to service guests on the patio.

The health of our employees, clients and guests is always our first priority. We believe this is the best course of action given the current COVID-19 environment. We remain focused on providing a high level of safety and comfort in our shopping centrte, while supporting public health and their efforts to contain the spread of COVID-19.

Let's Protect Each Other with the COVID Alert App

The COVID Alert app is another tool Canadians can use to help limit the spread of infection and prevent future outbreaks. The more Canadians who install the COVID Alert app on their phones, the better we can help limit the spread of COVID-19.

Download the app and help others use it too. Find out more at canada.ca/coronavirus.

Covid-19 Update

At Cadillac Fairview our first priority is the health and safety of our guests, tenants/their employees and our employees across our portfolio. In light of many local governments taking actions to support our communities during this difficult time, Cadillac Fairview, will be adjusting our food court operations to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

As per guidance from Public Health authorities, we will be limiting food court operations to takeout only and eliminating seating until further notice in an effort to promote social distancing.

The situation remains fluid and we are committed ensuring the essential needs of the community are met, while supporting public health and their efforts.

COVID-19 - Cleaning Procedures

At Cadillac Fairview our first priority is to ensure the safety and security of our employees, tenants/their employees, and guests across our portfolio of shopping centres and office properties. With the recent announcement by the World Health Organization, declaring COVID-19 as a pandemic we want to take the time to update you on the precautions we are taking.

Prior to this declaration we had activated our pandemic plans, including the establishment of a Steering Committee, which meets daily to coordinate efforts across our portfolio. Our efforts to help keep our communities safe include the following actions:

  • Enhanced cleaning
  • We have introduced increased cleaning in all the common areas of our properties, specifically:
  • Washrooms
  • Stairwells
  • Elevators /lobbies
  • Employee common areas

Handwashing guidance/best practices
We have installed handwashing signage based on best practices guidance established by Health Canada in all washrooms and have increased hand sanitizer stations, where products are available, across our properties in order to help minimize the spread of germs.

Reporting procedures
We have established a reporting protocol with our own employees, tenants and contractors, should one of their employees be exposed to coronavirus, to ensure that we are able to contact Health Canada in a timely manner, receive guidance based on the situation and take action as required.

We will continue to monitor the situation closely, and work with public health authorities as required. We thank you for your support and want you to know that our properties are open for business.
